F1 Monza Fastest Laps

A Custom Visualization coded in p5.js to display Monza F1 Fastest Laps per year. 8 variables were represented: lap number, lap time (rotational movement as a preattentive attribute), pole position, race winner, team, driver, year and tire compound.

A Custom Chart

A Data Visualization coded in javascript (p5.js). 8 variables are represented:

Lap time: the lap time appears as text. It was was converted to a rotational movement, a tire image was used.
Lap number: is represented by an arc with a dot at the end.
Pole position: a dot or tiny filled cirle, positioned at the bottom left of the lap number arc.
Race winner: a dot or tiny filled cirle, positioned at the bottom right of the lap number arc.
Team: the arc (lap number) color indicates the team (Ferrari, McLaren, Force India, Mercedes and Red Bull). It is used the main/brand color of every car in each year.
Driver: text.
Year: text.
Tire compound: for aesthetic and design purposes the 2025 tire compound color convention (Red for Soft, Yellow for Medium, White for Hard) was applied for all the years (2004-2025). It is used a tire image for Bridgestone, Michellin and Pirelli providers.

Movement as a Preattentive Attribute

I wanted to use/experiment (kinda…) the movement as a Preattentive Attribute. That’s why this variable was intentional given greater visual prominence. The rotational movement of the tires was slowed down to observe the difference in speed over the years.
